What’s The Word?

DARE /der/

verb: to have the courage to do something; to have the audacity, gumption, to venture, to be brave.

DARE is the word and it’s my word for 2016. I don’t do a New Year’s Resolution…I feel like I never really think them out, there’s not really a plan to get there and it is just setting myself up for failure.  Instead, I ask God for a specific word to define and direct my year and then I let His Grace shape and change me. It’s a JOURNEY, not a DESTINATION.

I will DARE to shine light wherever I go – “Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.” Philippians 2:15. I will DARE to fall madly in love with Jesus. I will DARE to be intentional. I will DARE to grab hold of my inheritance – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9.

I will DARE stand for my destiny, my dream, my purpose, my hopes – Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I chose you for a special work…” I will DARE to use my gift – as John Alcala said during his message at my church on Sunday “Suck it up and use your gift.”  I will DARE to love who God created me to be and stop comparing myself to others – Psalm 139:13-14 “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. I will DARE

I will DARE to not let my past and the mistakes in it keep me from my destiny – Ephesians 1:11 “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.”

I WILL DARE to run wild, live free, and love strong and because of The Good News of The Gospel this is possible. Grace nudges me to please God –  I don’t have to “try” to behave or be good and that leaves me free to just enjoy God.

What will you DARE to do in 2016?

I will DARE to ______________!
